It's officially summer, so it's the perfect time to escape to some of the most beautiful and serene locations across our lovely island.

Cornwall is a top destination during the summer months due to the region featuring gorgeous golden beaches, its rich history, and delicious cuisine. So, I'm excited to be highlighting some of my favourite pieces from the recent John Dyer Gallery St Ives Summer Exhibition.

With vibrant colours, bold compositions, and a  joyful sense of place, these paintings celebrate the Cornish coast, harbours, gardens, and iconic architecture — all captured through the eyes of two artists whose work has become synonymous with modern Cornish art.

About the Artists:

John Dyer, the Eden Project’s artist-in-residence for 25 years, presents new paintings inspired by Cornwall’s natural beauty, global conservation, and community. His distinctive style, full of spontaneity and saturated colour, invites collectors to reconnect with joy and nature

Joanne Short, known for her elegant oil paintings and membership in the Newlyn Society of Artists, brings a fresh and stylised approach to Cornish scenes. Her compositions, filled with Mediterranean light and Cornish flora, evoke travel, home, and serenity.

Their work definitely appeals to interior designers, collectors, and enthusiasts of British art alike.
