Grand Designs Live will return to ExCeL London from 30 April – 8 May 2022, hosted by TV presenter and design guru Kevin McCloud.
With seminars covering a broad range of home, interior, custom and self build topics from extensions to sustainability in the building industry and much more. This inspirational event is a must-visit for those looking to find information about home design, self and custom build. And to learn more about the world of interiors.
Daily sessions at the Grand Theatre, will include ‘Meet The Grand Designers’; presented by different home owners from the most recent series of the popular TV series on which the exhibition is based.
Grand Designers who will be at the show include Iain & Jenny Shillady will discuss how they renovated a 150-year-old bothy, knocking down some of the walls to attach it to a huge 200-square-metre black timber clad extension, along with Greg & Georgie Whitaker whose Backyard Barn in Kent created a peaceful haven for the couple. Ruth and Rob Grimshaw will be talking about how they planned to convert a rundown 18th-century blacking mill into their home, creative space, and office in Cumbria while Gretta Funnell & Carlos Gris will discuss how they built a minimalist Malaysian style home in Cambridgeshire.
Visitors can also learn about the rising trend for electric cars and how our homes are changing to accommodate electric vehicles. In line with the government’s ambitious target of ending the sale of conventional petrol and diesel vehicles by 2040, it’s time to decide if the switch is right for you.; join expert John Curtis as he talks through key information, the range of electric vehicles on the market and their capabilities.
The Energy Saving Trust will be offering advice on low carbon options for the home. Discussing the options of heat pumps in the home as an extremely low carbon heating option, as well as choosing the most energy efficient household appliances to help you save energy and money on your bills. Visitors can find out which are the biggest users of electricity in the home and offer tips on how to use them as efficiently as possible to help you reduce your energy bill.
