Erin and Andrew's backyard wedding in the city
Today I'm delighted to be able to share Erin and Andrew's back-yard style wedding, from the other side of the globe,
Erin and Andrew, both in the photographic industry were married in Melbourne, Australia, in March this year.
"As we are in the photography business, we met Leo, our wedding photographer on one of our commercial shoots MANY years ago. He was an easy choice as has such a uniquely ‘voyeuritistic’ style – which we love too. Goorgeous Occasions in Melbourne helped source our ‘props’ and the colour palette was actually ‘as colourful as possible."
Erin and Andrew met through friends... "We were on a mixed indoor soccer team. I would wear VERY short shorts and loads of make-up to the games – just to get Andrew’s attention – while also dazzling him with the odd header goal too – not sure what he liked best?
Andrew proposed on my 30th birthday – unwrapping a BIG box to find a special little one inside. We announced it to all our close friends that night which turned into the engagement party too!"
The ceremony and reception were both held at Gardens House, Royal Botanical Garden, Melbourne
Erin and Andrew wanted a backyard-style wedding, but juxtaposing this with a ‘city’ location. "We love twilight time in summer, so we wanted a balmy evening under the stars. Very casual / country feel. And the band was a big part of this too as Andrew LOVES music."

"We had some vintage cutlery, old ‘handmade’ chalkboards & signs, croquet sets on the lawn, instant cameras for the kids, jars as vases, wooden park bench seats with bright cushions, strings of flags, paper bag gifts for guest filled with nougat and balloons for the ceremony – LOTS of balloons."

"WITHOUT a doubt, my favourite bit was when I was serenaded by Andrew after his speech with Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take my Eyes of You” – you can see the shock and excitement in Leo’s pictures. He brought the house down."

"We had a great 4PC Jazz/Swing/Funk band – Julie O’Hara was the singer – she is an amazing, well respected Jazz singer in Melbourne – we couldn’t believe we got her! She really made the reception. Her band were really awesome too – cool cats ;)"
