Why not have a unique piece of art as a wedding gift?
If you're interested in art and would love one of these stunning pieces hanging on your wall, then why not consider an alternative wedding gift list with Morgan-Davies Art.
Morgan-Davies Art is an exciting and unique art company based in Clapham, London, specialising primarily in modern and contemporary art, starting from as little as £200.
They represent both British and International established and emerging artists and offer a broad range including: drawings, prints, works on paper, oils on canvas, photography and sculpture. All the artists they deal with have been carefully selected for their originality and investment potential and include: Henrie Haldane, Kaisa Karikoski, Barry Cawston, Marissa Weatherhead, Wilbur Heynes, Tim Williams, Irene Prada, Michelle McKinney and Michael Victor.
Wedding guests can pledge an amount of money with Morgan-Davies Art, and then the couple choose art work(s) at a later date once the gift list has closed, and by using the funds available. Alternatively, couples can select & reserve art work in advance, allowing guests to know the specific items on their ‘wish list’. We are happy to reserve art work for the period of the gift list, within reason.
As a special introduction for clients from The Ebury Collection, we will offer the first 5 clients who set up a gift list a 10% discount on art work.

Natalie tells us...
"Clients are free to browse works of art online, or they are welcome to visit us at art fairs or make an appointment at our premises in Clapham, London. Where possible, we can bring specific works of art to a customer’s home, so they can ‘try before they buy’. We understand that some customers will want to try a new work of art with their interior setting & decoration."

Having worked in galleries in Mayfair, where she curated high profile exhibitions and managed artists, her aim with MORGAN-DAVIES ART is to make art more accessible and affordable for buyers. Pale and Interesting...
Looking for stylish accessories for your wedding or a wedding gift list with a difference?
One of my favorite online boutiques is Pale and Interesting. Inspired the love of the functional, beautiful and out-of-the-ordinary, it is full of beautiful furniture, candle holders, cake stands, various glass bottles and a whole host of other accessories and jewellery.
Pale & Interesting is the creation of husband and wife team, Atlanta Bartlett and Dave Coote. Having each successfully worked in the magazine, photography and design industries for the last 20 years, this prolific couple have been producing books, interiors, furniture, products, sets, magazines features and cabins, both together and individually, that have been highly sought after by those “in the know”. Their combined client list ranges from Laura Ashley, John Lewis and Habitat to Elle Deco, Living etc and Red magazine.

Atlanta and Dave’s philosophy is all about mixing it up, teaming old with new, contrasting rough with smooth and pairing femininity with utility. The look is definitely non-prescriptive, a backlash against accepted ‘good-taste’ and bland mass-production. At Pale and Interesting, time worn furniture is loved for it’s signs of wear and tear, handcrafted objects adored for their individuality, utilitarian items celebrated for their functionality and personal touches are considered essential to keep your home fresh, lively and relevant to you.

I love the look of bare floorboards, wood clad walls and the way Dave and Atlanta have an instinctive style for all things beautiful.
To recreate their style, Atlanta suggests:
"The key to keeping the rustic look clean and simple is to pare-down the background and keep the decorative elements to a minimum. Keep the overall palette predominantly white and introduce colour in subtle ways with soft pastels, gentle neutrals and just the occasional pop of vibrant pink or acid green in the guise of a single bloom or a much loved vintage floral cushion.
A laid back home is also one that reflects the personalities of those who live there. It's style and look should evolve over time, rather than being plucked off the pages of a glossy magazine and family photos, heirlooms and holiday finds should rub shoulders with designer pieces and modern practicalities to create an environment that is relevant to you.
Appreciating things for what they are and leaving them in their raw state is an honest kind of decorating that allows you add texture, soul and a certain amount of integrity to your home. Time-worn furniture should be loved for it’s signs of wear and tear, handcrafted objects adored for their individuality and utilitarian items celebrated for their functionality."

A unique Kent wedding venue
Atlanta and Dave’s style is also reflected in their own unique wedding venue, in the style of a New England Barn. It is in the heart of the Kent countryside and is available for up to 70 guests.

The Antique Gift Company - Genuine vintage for your wedding gifts
The Antique Gift Company is a unique little find. Perfect for couples who really appreciate genuine vintage, and seek more unusual gifts to celebrate their wedding. In fact, you don't even need to be getting married to appreciate their carefully selected antiques. They will even source the perfect gift for you.

I asked Amy about the background of The Antique Gift Company...
I guess the reason I set up the company was following my own and other friends' weddings where we wanted to give and receive gifts that were a bit more unusual. I like the provenance of antiques - giving one feels that little bit more special. These are items that have been treasured by people sometimes for hundreds of years. I like the idea that each piece has a story and giving it to someone to commemorate a special occasion means it will be treasured for another lifetime and hopefully even handed down to the next generation.

On a more prosaic level, I have also spent a lot of time at auctions buying things for clients and I really do have a passion for buying and giving beautiful objects. Buying at auction is not for everyone. I think people are nervous of the auction process and also of being ripped off with fakes or simply paying too much. It is also quite a laborious process scouring auction catalogues and going to viewings. I guess I wanted to take the hassle and risk out of buying at auction for people who were looking to give an antique.
I also feel that antiques are about to have a resurgence. They are after all the ultimate in recycling! I think our culture is slowly becoming less disposal. People are looking to own items that will last. Today, antique pieces are being used in cutting edge design alongside contemporary pieces so I think this will filter down to the high street. Then it will become fashionable to serve food on Victorian platters and wine in a Georgian decanter.
Go and take a look at Amy's website, it really is a treat! www.theantiquegiftcompany.com

Brissi's gorgeous gift list
Today’s post is about the fabulous shabby chic emporium, Brissi. If you are looking for beautiful products for your home and for your wedding gift list, then Brissi, have an absolutely gorgeous range.
Owners Arianna Brissi and Siobhan McKeating share a love of interior design. They personally source every piece from specialist suppliers as well as developing exclusive designs with individual craftsmen in the UK and abroad. The Brissi look is elegant and glamorous… a little bit French, a little bit New England and always in subtle chalky, grey and white tones.

The silver wrap furniture is amongst my favourites in their collection. Brissi have worked with the most amazing craftsmen who use a combination metal of silver and nickel to hand wrap the hand carved pieces of furniture and then nail them by hand. Incredible.

The breakfast range is also lovely. There is something terribly nostalgic about it. I love the plain white, but the tones of grey and stone also work really well depending on your preferred colour scheme.
Here we ask Brissi’s for some advice for our readers:
What pearls of wisdom would you offer brides and grooms when they are thinking about their wedding and their gift list?
- Include a selection of gifts which have a timeless quality as these will retain their appeal. Don’t go too much for on-trend items, they will become outdated before you know it.
- Having at least two separate lists is a great idea, one with a more traditional outlet such as a department store and another with somewhere you can list individual items you love. Guests love to buy beautiful things which they know have a certain stand alone special quality.
- Guests tend to spend between £50 and £100, but some guests especially relatives will spend more. It is a good idea to put a couple of more expensive items on the list. It may sound “cheeky” but you will be surprised at how generous some people can be and there is no pressure to spend more than any guest wishes.
- Aim to have your list completed at least 10 weeks before the big day as this will give you time to make changes.

Brissi has stores in central London (Westbourne Grove, King’s Road and Marylebone High Street) and Richmond. A brand new South London branch in Northcote Road is planned to open in October 2010.
