Beth and Robert's beautiful May wedding
The lovely photographer Sally Elvin dropped me an email a few weeks ago with some gorgeous photos attached of her friend's Beth and Rob's wedding. Sally is fairly new to wedding photography and was a second shooter for their wedding, with the great David Jenkins as the official photographer. Judging by Sally's shots, she's got a great future ahead of her shooting weddings.
Beth and Robert were married in May last year at The Chapel, Glanusk Estate, in Wales with their reception on the lawn of Penymarth House.
"Rob and I first met when he was on holiday in my hotel in France – I remember thinking “he’s a bit of alright” but were both in other relationships at the time! Four years later and both single, we were seated on a table together at a mutual friends wedding and let’s just say it went from there! Rob, the supposed excellent and very keen mountain biker invited himself to stay over in the Alps but turned up with no mountain bike. Secretly I was so pleased – skiing is my passion but mountain biking is definitely not! A two year, long distance relationship did work and we got engaged in the south of France in May 2009.
Our wedding was the most magical day with the all our family and friends surrounding us from far and wide. We were blessed with glorious sunshine which definitely made the weekend, as being predominantly outside it would have been very difficult in the rain! We essentially wanted a traditional wedding but wanted it to be fun and relaxed – a tent attached to the chapel definitely helped!"

My dress by Sassi Holford was everything I could have wished for and I loved having the versatility to be able change it slightly from day to night.

"Slaters were so helpful with the wedding party morning suits and so brilliantly organised considering people were dotted around all over the UK and as far as Australia! The same goes for the bridesmaids dresses and I have to say I am quite jealous that they have got to wear their dresses again since the big day! All our suppliers were fantastic, we used a lot who were already contacts and they did us so proud. From our stunning flowers, delicious food, amazing marquee, and gorgeous photographer, they were all so professional and made our day so stress free and perfect. The band were also brilliant – highly recommended to keep all ages dancing until the early hours."

Due to my association with France I wanted to include some French traditions hence the Croquembouche Wedding Cake that was absolutely divine (I really wish I had eaten more of it!!) along with the copious amounts of Champagne – we are lucky to have contacts in that area.

"We now look back at the day when we watch our wedding video that has been put together so well and really captures the whole day perfectly along with our stunning photos that tell the story from start to finish. We want to do it all over again! I’m off to put my dress on and sit with a glass of champagne and watch the wedding video again now that I have stirred up all those memories!! Thank you!"
